Low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 25 would be allowed to buy insurance coverage from the New Hampshire Healthy Kids program under legislation before the House.

Currently, kids can qualify for the program until they're 18. The bill would allow those 25 and younger to buy into the program if they can't be included on their family's health insurance plan. They wouldn't qualify if they earn more than $3,610 per month.

Gov. John Lynch supports the expansion, which would not cost the state, since the participants will pay monthly premiums.

The Senate passed the bill earlier this month. The House will hold a hearing on it Thursday.
